The Week I Almost Recommended a Clone Site

A client asked for an AI visibility tool recommendation. I shortlisted five. Then I started digging into who was behind them.

Two of the five had about pages with stock photos and no names. One had copied a paragraph from a competitor's site word-for-word (I checked archive.org).

One was real: visibilityos.co. The other two were monitoring tools that never promised more than dashboards.

The lesson: in a new category, the clones move faster than the reviews. Verify the company before the demo.
